vPenTest release notes: August 1, 2024

Announcement

SMS-based 2FA for vPenTest no longer supported

Effective August 1, SMS-based 2FA for vPenTest is no longer available. This change is part of our ongoing commitment to ensure the highest levels of security for our partners and customers.

Why this change?

SMS-based 2FA has known vulnerabilities that can be exploited by malicious actors. By moving away from SMS, we aim to provide a more secure authentication experience.

Alternative options

We encourage you to switch to one of these secure 2FA methods:

  • Email Authentication: Receive 2FA codes in your email inbox. This is enabled by default.

  • App-Based Authentication: Use apps like Google Authenticator or Authy to generate secure 2FA codes.

How to enable app-based authentication

  1. Click on your name in the top right corner within vPenTest.

  2. Select Enable 2FA app verification.

  3. Follow the instructions on the setup page.
